Who are the people behind Print2Metal?

High definition, imaging on aluminium, images on aluminiumYou may be wondering about the people who so passionately work behind the name Print2Metal.

Frank Hoekstra has made photography his life. For the past 20 years up until March of this year, Frank ran Photo Production House, his own photo lab on High Street, Prahran. Known for it’s personal service and extra attention to detail he brings about 40 years of photographic experience to Print2Metal. Originally from Amsterdam, Frank runs printing production and likes to think of himself as a “Dutch Master”.

Marie Cosgrave was also part owner of Photo Production House and the face at the front counter for the past 17 years. She claims never to have printed a photo in all that time but looked after everything else including Accounts, Marketing, HR, Customer Service, Merchandising, Window Cleaning and Cuppa Tea Making. She brings these fine tuned skills to Print2Metal and will usually be the one to take your calls.

Karen has also come across from the photo lab in Prahran where over the past 8 years she was regularly left to run the show. A graduate of NMIT, seasoned photographic printer, wedding and portrait photographer, photoshop hot shot and owner of Chloe, the jack russell who features regularly on our sample prints.

Scott has photographic chemistry flowing through his veins. As Head Honcho of production in labs both in Australia and the UK Scott brings 23 years of printing experience to the team. Always up with the latest he’s also our geek who keeps the computers, printers, website and social networking, running so smoothly. A great sense of British humour but takes his soccer very seriously.

Our Customers are Winners!

Congratulations to Gavin Poh winner of the Australian Photography “Colour Red” competition for June.

“I first came across Print2metal a year ago when I went to develop some standard prints and noticed a stunning image of escalators on display. Due to the high quality finish of the Brushed aluminium, it really “popped” and gave me great inspiration to have one of my HDR images printed on metal.

The customer experience was great from the on-set, their web self service channels are easy to navigate and uploading my image was really quick and easy. A few clicks later, I received a call to say my file was received and work had commenced. I picked up the print a few days later and the image was gorgeous, colours popped, highlights and mid-tones shone through and although my image was not standard sized, Print2metal were extremely accommodating with a custom size.

When I brought the print home, I noticed the aluminium had some dents, which may have occurred during transit from print2metal workshops to collection point. I called to inform them of slight damage citing transit or manufacture problems and they were fantastic about it. Someone came to my house, picked up the print and replaced it for free. Absolutely fantastic customer service and quality prints. I can’t recommend them enough!”

PMA 2011 Media Release

Print2Metal debuts exciting new printed metal products.

The company who brought the latest and most revolutionary printing technology to Australia in 2010 will again be exhibiting at the upcoming PMA Australia Imaging & Entertainment Expo.

Print2Metal, an online business that prints images directly into, not onto specially treated metal, was among the 10 ‘Hot Pick’ winners at last year’s show and are hoping to impress visitors again in 2011.

Printer and owner of Print2Metal, Mr Frank Hoekstra, said after a busy 12 months he was looking forward to exhibiting again at this year’s expo.

“During the 2010 show we were thrilled with all the interest in Print2Metal in Melbourne and were really honoured to be chosen as one of the show’s ‘Hot Picks’,” he said.

“It’s been a really exciting and busy time since launching Print2Metal last year.

“We were featured on Better Homes & Gardens and nominated as one of only three finalists in the highly coveted 2011 ‘designEX’ New Product Award for Accessories.

“We’ve had lots of interest and suggestions from customers and industry professionals, which have guided us in a direction we may not have previously considered.

“We’re excited to announce that our Print2Metal customers will now be able to display their artwork outside, something we have not been able to recommend until now.

“Thanks to a new range of new high-end finishes that to the eye cannot be seen, our metal prints will now be UV stable in direct sunlight for a minimum of 10 years, which will allow photographers to extend the use of their images to outdoor, display and retail settings,” he said.

Mr Hoekstra said curved and bent images would also be a feature of this year’s display.

“For this year’s show we have looked at the unique features of our metal product and picked up on its ability to bend,” he said.

“Hanging options always help to differentiate an image as well so the Print2Metal team have introduced a number of new ‘looks’ for the expo.”

Mr Hoekstra also said Print2Metal were working hard to add printed kitchen backsplashes to its exciting range of products.

“Once we have the necessary safety approvals, this is definitely an opportunity for photographers to consider,” he said.

The 2011 PMA Australia Imaging & Entertainment Expo will be held at the at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour from June 24-26.

At Print2Metal we are constantly viewing amazing work being printed on our metal surfaces and would like to share some of these extra special shots with you!

Our first image of the week is an image by Anna Clemann of Creature Focus Animal Photography of a beautiful husky dog. This image caught our attention as it looks amazing on all four of our metal surfaces.

Anna Clemann started Creature Focus Animal Photography in 2005, and has been photographing pets and wildlife for more than six years. In this time Anna has photographed dogs, cats, lizards, birds and many other pets. She has also travelled to the Norwegian Arctic to photograph Polar Bears and other Arctic wildlife. Images from this trip were exhibited in 2010, and Anna plans to next travel to Rwanda to photograph the Mountain Gorillas.

Anna’s love of animals stretches back to her childhood when the family owned dogs, cats, lizards and even had a visiting possum. Anna is passionate about photography and animals, and combines these passions to create beautiful images.

designEX Huge success!

Print2Metal would like to wish everyone who visited our stand at designEX a big thank you.

The show was a huge success, with a lot of interest in our product and a lot of great new ideas for future ways our metal prints can be used and displayed. So stay tuned for new product developments!

We were picked up by Better Homes & Gardens and will have a very brief moment of fame on Friday 20th May at 7.00 pm on channel 7 (Melbourne). We were also among the 3 finalists in the highly coveted New Product Award for Accessories.

A lot of interest was also shown in the people who helped create the visuals of our stand. These artists where: Kanvas Interior Art; Louis Petruccelli Photography; Luis Ferreiro Photography; Darius Photography; Vivian Ashworth; and Creature Focus Photography. We will be posting a feature piece on these artists over the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled.
