The light in which a printed image is viewed can also play a big part in how accurate it appears.

“I travel all over the place to get the images I need to make a living. And it is of paramount importance that those hard to get images are reproduced in the same painstaking way they were shot. That is not always an easy call. I have knocked back many prints which fell short of my expectations. But recently, I experienced Print2Metal for the first time after many years of photojounalism. It is everything they said it would be. First class service & first class quality. I can’t fault the work or the mounting presentation. If my experience is anything to go by, then use these guys – I know you won’t be disappointed.”
Look out for the work of Cara-Ann Simpson printed on metal which is currently on exhibition at the Bundoora Homestead Art Centre until 11th December 2011.
The work of Cara-Ann is unique in the way she resonates sound through the metal print to turn the whole print into the speaker. She’s really excited to be part of this exhibition alongside some really incredible historic and contemporary Australian artists!
Cara-Anne has also printed on metal in the finalist exhibition for the Fleurieu Art Prize – Youth Scholarship.
Exhibition dates: 4 Nov – 5 Dec 2011 and the youth scholarship exhibition is at the Wirra Wirra Winery, McLaren Vale SA. The titles of her works for that prize are: Townsville: over the Ross Creek and Victoria Park: reconstruction.
Good Luck Cara-Ann
If you have or know of a business who has empty wall space we’d love to hear from you.
We’d like to display suitable images to compliment the space and let people know that our work is on display there. Preferably a central location, this is ideal for a café, gym, restaurant, florist.
Frank Hoekstra has made photography his life. For the past 20 years up until March of this year, Frank ran Photo Production House, his own photo lab on High Street, Prahran. Known for it’s personal service and extra attention to detail he brings about 40 years of photographic experience to Print2Metal. Originally from Amsterdam, Frank runs printing production and likes to think of himself as a “Dutch Master”.
Marie Cosgrave was also part owner of Photo Production House and the face at the front counter for the past 17 years. She claims never to have printed a photo in all that time but looked after everything else including Accounts, Marketing, HR, Customer Service, Merchandising, Window Cleaning and Cuppa Tea Making. She brings these fine tuned skills to Print2Metal and will usually be the one to take your calls.
Karen has also come across from the photo lab in Prahran where over the past 8 years she was regularly left to run the show. A graduate of NMIT, seasoned photographic printer, wedding and portrait photographer, photoshop hot shot and owner of Chloe, the jack russell who features regularly on our sample prints.
Scott has photographic chemistry flowing through his veins. As Head Honcho of production in labs both in Australia and the UK Scott brings 23 years of printing experience to the team. Always up with the latest he’s also our geek who keeps the computers, printers, website and social networking, running so smoothly. A great sense of British humour but takes his soccer very seriously.

“I was very pleased with the results of my first metal print. These prints share the advantages of canvas prints in that they are light in weight and you don’t have to worry about trying to match a frame and mattboard to either the image or the décor of a room but it’s their mirror-like finish that is the real winner, providing a more dynamic look than any canvas print could hope to achieve. It was an easy process to order and a fast one too – my completed work arrived 4 days after I ordered it.”
